[Introduction]
Prize-winning filmmaker Yuya Ishii’s new film. Ishii has been recognized at the 1st Edward Yang New Talent Award, the 37th Rotterdam Film Festival and the 32nd Hong Kong International Film Festival.

[Synopsis]
Norio is an almost dull country boy seduced into eloping to Tokyo with Akemi, his 34-year-old, divorced English teacher. Akemi gets a job as a tout at a Karaoke bar but lies, claiming to be at a beauty salon. While Norio slowly adjusts to life in Tokyo, Akemi constantly prods him to study hard and become a lawyer. When Akemi’s secret source of money emerges, Norio is hurt and humiliated as their unconsummated love works its way through to a difficult, but almost inevitable, ending.
