[Synopsis]
While undergoing the heart surgery, an Egyptian film director, Yehia, dreams himself as a child he once was. He is put on trial for the attempted murder of himself, the man he has grown in to. The child accuses his adult self of abandoning his ideals. Although Yehia has attained his film-making dreams and is still creative, he becomes more conscious of his mortality and wonders if he has sacrificed his personal life and health for success. Through the metaphoric trial, we are drawn into Chahine’s life in relation with the Egyptian revolution, his constant need for success, and the effect the American Dream has on him.
