For the future of the film industry the Tokyo International Film Festival holds the "Film Critics Project" as part of development of human resources. This will provide the first step for those aspiring to become a professional film critic who adore films and support the film industry in the future with their firm eyes on films. Anyone who is able to view films in the "Competition" section during the festival period and write critiques in Japanese may participate in the project.
- View films in the "Competition" section during the Festival (October 17 to 25) , and write critiques of between 800 and 1,500 characters in Japanese per piece.
- Multiple application is permitted.

- No restrictions on age or gender
- Writers who have produced work for a film-related media for a fee are not permitted to apply.
(Works for private web-sites and blogs are not within the above mentioned conditions.)
The result of a rigorous assessment will be announced at end of January, 2010 on the official website of the Tokyo International Film Festival.
As a result of the assessment, the Best Critique award and a Honorable Mention will be awarded to critiques of outstanding quality. If there is no work that reaches the satisfactory standard, then awards will not be given.
